Every five years, three girlfriends and I jet off for a long weekend, usually to a city in Europe, hopefully to a place that none of us have been to before. Ten years ago we set up a bank account, agreeing to deposit £15.00 each month, to ensure that this little adventure actually happens. You know how the intention is firmly there but the funds or time are not always willing? It’s worked out brilliantly so far, with enough money to afford us a good break in a nice hotel, all spending money included. Believe it or not, this time I actually came back with more money than I started! Five years ago it was Verona (a city that stole my heart); this year it was… View Post

Life. It’s a funny old beast isn’t it? Eating ice cream in Lisbon one day, reading the horrific news of yet another terrorist attack, the next. I’ve seen so many posts on social media this week about not letting hate win and I absolutely believe that. I think it’s important to remind ourselves that we still live in a beautiful world; a fallen one yes, but beautiful nonetheless. When the world feels like a dark and scary place, we need to focus on the hundreds of good people who stopped to comfort a lost child, stroke the head of a dying stranger and calm down a teenager in the throes of a panic attack. There are far more good people in this world than there… View Post

One of my reasons for starting this blog was to reignite some of the passions that I had pre-children. Ones that got pushed to the back-burner due to obvious reasons. Ones that I have more time for now that they are growing up. I’ve always had an interest in interiors, something that led me to completing a curtain-making course at night school some 6 years ago, as well as building up a huge pile of homes and interiors magazines over the years. Now that I blog and am an avid social media fan, I’m drawn to Pinterest boards of beautiful bedrooms and blogs where the writer inspires me with pictures of home decor and latest accessories. Basically, I’m a nosy creature. Social media and blogging is heaven for people like me!… View Post

It’s been a busy one folks. How was your week? We’ve celebrated a birthday and yet again, I am left wondering how on earth I’m old enough to have a 17 year old. Of course we all know the answer to that and at 45, you would think that I would too! The truth is, I still feel like a teenager myself most days. I wonder if this feeling ever leaves? I’ve been absent without trace on this ‘ere blog but I have a few ideas brewing, so will be back next week with some home style and plenty more ramblings I’m sure. Until then, here are the things I’ve been loving this week… Read I’ve found it really hard to make time for reading books this week. I’m slowly building up my… View Post

Over the last five years, blogging has slowly become my favourite form of escapism. Although I have sometimes been sucked into this whole idea of needing to provide fresh material, these days I am just writing what I want, when I want, for me and no one else. What I’ve always loved more than anything, is writing a post that really resonates with readers. Last week’s post about embracing the ordinary moments in life, instead of constantly chasing excitement and success, is one of my most viewed to date. I’m so glad that we’re all on the same page!  Joining in with Little Loves each week totally echoes my desire to keep life simple by embracing the ordinary, so although I missed it last week…I’m back! Read Guess what? I actually finished a… View Post
