With three teenagers, two dogs and a business to run, our house is always busy. To use one of my mother’s expressions, it often resembles Clapham Junction and that’s on a good day! I am therefore permanently on the look out for time-saving techniques and my life’s mission is to find the most efficient route to everything. When iRobot asked me if I would like to review their Roomba 980 vacuum cleaning robot, I thought Christmas had come (very) early. I mean, who wouldn’t palm off a job or two to a robot, given half the chance? The Roomba claims to seamlessly vacuum an entire floor whilst you’re out, even commanding it to do so via an app. Too good to… View Post

Two things to celebrate today: it’s Friday (what’s not to like?) and it’s one of my favourite times of the month because I get to share all of the things I’ve been loving lately. February is usually a dreary month that despite only being 28 (or 29) days long, seems to drag on forever. I know it’s not over yet but again, I’m sat here wondering where the month went. Anyone else? The first half of February was pretty challenging. All five of us were fighting various coughs and colds and I was incapacitated for a week with a bad back. Thankfully we had a week skiing in France to look forward to and despite the boy breaking his wrist in… View Post

Buying a Red magazine before I go on holiday has become somewhat of a ritual over recent years. Ever since I cancelled my monthly subscription due to too many editions being left to gather dust, I have reserved it for treat time only. Just looking at that brightly coloured, glossy front page signals ‘down time’ for me. I now ensure that I devour every single page of said ‘treat’ and this month, I came across an interview with the (still, at 53) stunningly beautiful Yasmin Le Bon. I love reading the pearls of wisdom from older women. I think as we reach middle age, we can be left feeling as though it’s all about the younger generation. Well let me… View Post

I say this without an ounce of hesitation: you are going to fall in love with this month’s home, immediately! Full of quirky detail and that wonderfully eclectic mix of contemporary and vintage, it is just stunning. In fact this home very much reflects the owner, Caro, who describes herself as ‘a girl with big eyes and a happy heart’.  I have yet to meet Caro IRL (in real life), but have followed her on social media for some time. She runs a very successful family lifestyle blog (The Twinkle Diaries) and I regularly join in with her Home Etc linky, as well as the #homeetc hashtag over on Instagram. Without further ado, let me introduce you to Caro and her family.… View Post

“Room tour please!” came the cry on Instagram last week, a stark reminder that I still hadn’t shared our mammoth building project garden room with you. In fact I am so tardy with this post that I can no longer legitimately describe our garden room as ‘new’! It has now been in full use since October of last year and although the build wasn’t without its difficulties, we couldn’t be more thrilled with the end result. Why Build a Garden Room? When we bought this house back in 2006, neither of us were committed to staying here forever. It seemed like a good stepping stone and the garden was perfect for a growing family. But with one less bedroom than we… View Post
