2019: My Year in Numbers

2019 Unsplash Photograph

The end of another year looms and I’m feeling the pressure. I have loads of ’round up’ posts that I would love to get out of my head and onto this blog, but there are only so many hours in the day and I think we both know it’s unlikely to happen. For various reasons, blogging has taken a back seat for me in the latter half of this year so let’s not get overly ambitious!

What I *can* do though, is write up my year in numbers. I remember doing this a couple of years ago and a few of you wanted to join in by writing your own. If that’s you, please don’t feel you need to ask my permission. Crack on! Make sure that you share it with me if you do though. Deal?

1700

RTs for my most popular tweet of 2019.

784

Pounds spent in ASOS (75% of which was returned by the way). Thank goodness for free delivery.

Times I wore my favourite trainers. Thank you Boden!

Photos shared on Instagram. A platform that I’ve repeatedly fallen in and out of love with this year.

These are my Top Nine photographs from 2019

95

Parcels received from Amazon. What *did* we do before Amazon?

92

Crisis conversations taken on the Shout platform. This is another role that has fallen a little by the wayside recently but I want to pick it up again properly in the new year.

36

Blog posts published (about half my usual number). My most popular post this year was all about my favourite spring fashion items. Food for thought for 2020…

Years of marriage celebrated.

17

Times I’ve had my hair coloured.

11

Books completed (at least 3 unfinished ones sat on my bedside table 🙈).

Little Fires Everwhere

This was my book of the year 2019

9

Items still left on our DIY to do list.

6

Plants killed. New year’s resolution = fake plants only in 2020.

IKEA succulents

4.5

Hours spent having my eyebrows microbladed (and they still haven’t fully taken 😅).

4

Therapy sessions attended and plenty more to come.

3

New pairs of shoes bought. My favourite definitely being the M&S biker boots.

2

New drivers in the family (it’s been an expensive year).

Camping trip  – never to be repeated!

So there we have it; my 2019 summed up in numbers.

Thank you Gail. So glad you followed suit! Happy new year to you all too. xx

  • What a fantastic idea. Although I have so many round-up blogposts still under construction that I can’t possibly add any more to the list! I’m in awe at the huge number of Amazon parcels and hair dyeing sessions. Genuinely I think I”ve had about three or four Amazon parcels all year and have never even looked at the ASOS website! My hair has probably been dyed five times this year (by my daughter, of course).
Here’s hoping 2020 is a good year for you and your family. x

Don’t be in awe of my Amazon parcels! We get everything from Amazon and there are 5 of us buying so regularly get 2 in one day…probably not something to be proud of! Happy New Year to you all too. xx

Love the style of this post. I have never bought anything from ASOS, I must check it out!

Might I suggest Aloe plants? They’re near impossible to kill. You can get mini ones too if you don’t want big plants. I’m not very good at keeping plants alive but this year I’ve managed to keep alive an aloe plant (you only water them once a month), a peace lily (only water it when the soil goes dry) and I’ve grown a tree in my kitchen from an offcut of my garden Acer. I am slowly getting a plant obsession because I love that they remove toxins from the air and oxygenate the room! I also got a random plant for £1 at Easter – no idea what it is but it’s three times the size it was! 🤣

Peace lillies are the only ones I can keep alive too! Not tried an Aloe plant but I will. I love the look of plants but I think I probably need to admit defeat. Threw out another 3 over Christmas 🙁

Aw I love this Suzanne, what a great way of looking back at the year. Congratulations on 22 years of marriage, and yikes 2 new drivers in the family. I wish Morgan wanted to learn, but he doesn’t seem interested yet ( I need a taxi driver lol). Wishing you much love to you in 2020 xxx

It’s funny, I hadn’t realised that they had both passed in the same year until I looked back through my photos for inspiration! One was in February and the other was in July. It makes life a lot easier. xx

Sounds like a busy, enjoyable year x

In some ways it’s been busy and not always good! But it’s nice/fun to look back in this way. Happy new year to you. xx

  • Congratulations on 22 years of marriage – how wonderful. I’m really glad you’re finding the therapy sessions helpful- I hope they continue to make a positive difference for you this year. I love writing my Year In Numbers post every year, inspired by you – thank you for posting your first one however many years ago it was!
