Welcome back to another instalment of my ‘At Home With…’ series. If you’re a blogger or Instagram fanatic then you may well know Jo as ‘Not a Frumpy Mum’. The thing that you might not know, is that Jo recently stopped blogging and changed her Instagram handle to ‘Jo at Number 26‘ – something that suits her love for home and interiors perfectly.
Over the last 12 months, I have watched Jo transform her house into an amazing family home. I can’t wait to share it with you. Shall we take a peak?
Who lives in your home?
Myself, my husband and our two boys (aged 6 and 2). We also have our two old ladies living with us – two Lhasa Apso dogs who are now 14 and 12.
Where do you live and how long have you lived there?
We live in a small village in Warrington, and have lived here for 9 years. My husband grew up in the village and I grew up in the next village along so after a few years living in other places, it was a definite feeling of coming home when we moved in here.
What were the first impressions of your home?
I think we both fell in love with it straight away. I remember standing outside the house after the viewing and he asked me what I thought, my answer was “It could be amazing!“. By the next morning I had drawn sketches of where all our furniture would go.
Have you had any major work done?
We have yes, twice! When we first bought the house it had been empty for a couple of years and needed completely gutting internally. We had a new kitchen put in, new bathroom and had a full redecoration. We lived with our parents whilst this was going on and eventually moved in two weeks before we got married.
The most recent work has been a two storey extension on the back of the house to give us an open plan kitchen/dining/living area and that was finished this summer.
What is your favourite room in the house?
It’s hard to pick just one at the moment! I love our new bedroom, after years of having a brown bedroom I love how light it now is and (to my husbands disapproval) I’m slowly adding some pink to the space.
If I had to choose one I would have to go for the kitchen, it’s where we are spending most of our time at the moment. I love the dark blue kitchen cupboards, and am a little obsessed with the new bi-fold doors.
Is there anything you would change about your home?
The bathroom floor! The bathroom is one of the few rooms that hasn’t been touched in the recent work but it was when we first moved in. I love the space but we decided to tile the floor which initially looked great but as it is a textured tile it is a nightmare to clean and gets dirty really quickly. Unfortunately it isn’t easy to change so I’m learning to live with it.
What is the next home project you have planned?
Nothing major for a very long time! But there are a lot of finishing touches to do around the house, the kitchen still needs tiling, we need a couch for the new extension and there’s lots of pictures to hang and accessories to dot around.
When can I move in? Seriously, this home is my dream – light and airy with so many unusual details that give it oodles of character and charm. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us Jo. You can find more interiors inspiration from Jo over on Instagram – please do go and check her out.

6 years agoI’ve been following the renovations on Instagram too. I just LOVE that space where the dining table is – the brick wall, the lights above the table, the clean and open space, the gorgeous light that pours in – it’s just beautiful!

6 years agoJo has done such a beautiful job on her house!! We’re renovating our house at the moment so it’s great to see an ‘after’ house to inspire me. I love the colour of the kitchen and the exposed brick wall. I hope ours ends up looking this good!! xx
