Introducing Uncommon Goods {and a Giveaway}

[dropcap]E[/dropcap]ver find yourself getting lost on the internet? You know what I mean by ‘lost’, don’t you? Sitting down at 7pm to order the online food shop, only to realise it’s 10pm and you’re inadvertently researching ‘garden room ideas’ (my current obsession) on Pinterest.

Or searching around from one site to another, looking for THE perfect gift for that one special person, leaving all the tabs open ‘just in case’ and then forgetting which one you were interested in in the first place.

Sound familiar?

There’s no doubt about it, the internet is the most incredible invention but boy can it be a time waster. If you’re already dreading the idea of finding a gift for that one person on your Christmas (#sorrynotsorry) list who has absolutely everything he (let’s face it, it’s bound to be a man) could possibly want, then stay tuned!

Before we go any further, don’t be fooled into thinking that Uncommon Goods is ‘just another online gift store’, it’s more than that. Many of the items have a detailed to description of the person who made it, making the site feel very personal and supportive of the small business.

In addition, Uncommon Goods has an inspiring mission statement, making it abundantly clear that they are as committed to the environment as they are the customer:

“We’re committed to offering you a creative and exciting merchandise assortment and are working with our suppliers – from artists to small manufacturers – to make their products in a more socially and environmentally responsible manner.”

Of course when I started looking, I found it almost impossible to choose my favourites but I managed to narrow it down to eight ranging from £16.49 up to £61.86.

For the Dog Lover

Know someone who adores their pup more than life itself? Then this ‘Pedigree Poem Art‘ (from £32.99) would be just perfect. Choose the breed and you’ll find a fun acrostic poem listing all of his adorable traits.

For the Entertainer

We regularly have people round for meals, putting snacks out to enjoy with drinks beforehand. But what do you do with those awkward pistachio shells? I love the idea of this Pistachio Pedestal (£39.59) – no more rogue shells down the side of the sofa!.

For the Home Maker

Winter is all about the candles, no? Just the name of this one – Long Winter’s Nap Candle (£24.74) – makes me want to light it immediately whilst longing for cosy evenings.

For the Skiing Family

We love skiing as a family so I was immediately drawn to this Personalised Family Ski Art (from £61.86). Isn’t it the cutest?

For the Cocktail Lover

Who doesn’t love a cocktail in the summer months? Or any month for that matter! Mojito is my absolutely favourite so this Grow & Craft Mojito Kit (£37.12) stood out immediately.

For the Party Planner

Want to host a family party with something a little different as the centre piece? I think that this Fruit Keg Tapping Kit (£16.49) is SUCH a cool idea!

For the Green Fingered.

I’ve tried and failed to grow my own herbs on many occasions but if they looked like this, I think I might try a bit harder! This Mason Jar Indoor Herb Garden (£16.50) would make a great gift for the garden lover.

For the Selfie Addict.

This would make the perfect gift for a teenager or the social-media-obsessed adult *cough*. I’ve actually got one of these Anti-Gravity IPhone Cases (£24.74) myself and it makes taking selfies so much easier! If you’re a vlogger then even better.

Ooh I love the sound of this website, perfect for Christmas! I like the pistachio thing but I always serve them in a cup and saucer so people can put the shells on the saucer. My favourite is the fruit keg!
