I love trying out new make-up and beauty products. There are two reasons behind this love affair of mine: firstly, mother nature needs more than a little helping hand these days and secondly, if it’s going to look nice in my bathroom, I’m having it.
I rarely spend much money on products these days, mainly because my pricey-but-worth-it Liz Earle stuff kept disappearing (nothing is sacred when you have teenage girls in the house).
So in the name of keeping my stress levels to a minimum, whilst demonstrating the art of sharing, I started to buy cheap. And you know what? I’ve found some little gems. In fact these products are currently all on sale for less than £4!
5 Essential Beauty Buys for Less than £5
Garnier Micellar Water – £2.66
This little bottle of miracle-liquid is available in all main-stream supermarkets as well as Boots. At the moment, Tesco is selling it for just £2.66 for 400ml.
This product cleanses, removes make-up and leaves your skin feeling refreshed. My girls both use it and so do I. If you’ve not tried it yet, you simply must. I guarantee you will not look back. It’s brilliant!
New Look Nail Polish – £3.99
I discovered that New Look does a cosmetics range quite by accident really.
Ok, I’ll admit to stealing this one (having daughters works both ways, right?) when I was looking for a specific colour to go with an outfit. But after finding my painted nails un-chipped after more than a week, I properly looked at the bottle. I was as surprised as you to see the words: New Look.
The quality of this product is amazing. Looking for a cheap Christmas present for a teenage girl or indeed any female? This would be gratefully received.
Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum – £2.69
This was recommended to me by another blogger on Instagram (I can’t remember who or I would tag them). As I’m a sucker for a real life recommendation, I had to get me some.
I love a serum and let me tell you, my skin desperately needs hydrating, particularly in the winter months. Doesn’t everybody’s? At £2.69 you cannot go wrong with this Superdrug wonder product. I’ve been using this and it’s ‘partner in crime’ (below) for about a year now. Love it.
Superdrug Simply Pure Light Moisturiser – £2.69
So of course I bought the moisturiser too. There are two different types of the Simply Pure Moisturiser – one for sensitive skin and one with an SPF15 in it. I usually use the latter one as I always like to wear some kind of protection from the sun.
Again, this product is an absolute steal at £2.69. If my daughters borrow it…who cares?!
Superdrug is also doing a ‘buy one get second half price’ deal at the moment. What are you waiting for?
Rimmel Brow This Way – £3.99
Brows. When did they become such a thing? I’ve even started getting mine waxed and tinted once a month.
Despite this, I still don’t find it easy to tame them so this little product acts as a kind of hairspray for brows – encouraging them to stay in the right place, all day. And it really works! It does get clogged up towards the end of the bottle but at £3.99 (Boots), you can afford to buy three bottles!
I’m always on the look out for bargains, particularly in the make up and skincare range. What’s your current favourite? Please do share in the comments below. Have you tried any of the products I’ve mentioned today?

8 years agoI love the sound of the Garnier water and also the hydrating serum too. Typical as I was in Superdrug yesterday, so next time I will definitely pick some up. My skin is terribly dry at the moment, and it certainly needs a good pick up after the excesses of Christmas x
