I started this blog a little over a year ago, with the intention of ‘finding myself’. Ok that sounds rather hippy and dramatic but let me explain… I was hoping to find the me after the school run, the one who disappeared under a pile of nappies, school uniform and endless rounds of CBeebies about 17 years ago. So far, so good. Another aim, was to spend a little more time with the husband. Now that our children are pretty much fending for themselves (teenagers like to think they are but anyone who owns one will know that the emotional drain is enough to tip any sane person over the edge), I was hoping that would be easy. In reality,… View Post

My head has been awash with potential posts over the last few weeks, a sure sign that I’m long overdue a catch up on here Autumn is always such a busy time of year for me but I do love it. September signals the start of all things new and I’m so in love with the changes that nature brings to this season: crisp copper leaves, frost on the grass tips and the odd surprise toadstool if you’re really lucky! Inside I could almost write a book on the learning, over-thinking and adapting I’ve done during the last few months. I don’t know where to start really – possibly why I’ve concentrated more on ‘Outside’ and ‘Beyond’ posts of late.… View Post

It’s been a while since I wrote a chatty post but it’s halfway through summer, we’ve been on holiday, and I am feeling in need of a catch up. I love that a blog can be like an online diary (albeit one that the whole world can read!) and when I started blogging five years ago, that was my intention. This blog has morphed into a quest to find myself after kids but I do still enjoy offloading. So if you’re missing my weekly Little Loves post (Morgana is having a holiday) consider this a substitute. Incidentally, did you see that I had a good nosey around Morgana’s home earlier this week? Inside {Feeling Redundant} People always warned me about… View Post

I know what you’re thinking, the Alps is a winter destination: snow, skiing, a sneaky vin chaud at the top of the mountain. Well yes of course it is, but have you ever considered going in the summer months? We hadn’t, until we bought an apartment in the Alps. In fact even then, we assumed that Les Gets would be a ghost town in the summer holidays and we might be the only ones foolish enough to drive 12 hours to spend two weeks with bored teenagers. How wrong we were! The first time we visited the Alps in summer, was June 2015 and we were surprised to find that the whole region comes alive in the summer months. I’m now genuinely… View Post

Every five years, three girlfriends and I jet off for a long weekend, usually to a city in Europe, hopefully to a place that none of us have been to before. Ten years ago we set up a bank account, agreeing to deposit £15.00 each month, to ensure that this little adventure actually happens. You know how the intention is firmly there but the funds or time are not always willing? It’s worked out brilliantly so far, with enough money to afford us a good break in a nice hotel, all spending money included. Believe it or not, this time I actually came back with more money than I started! Five years ago it was Verona (a city that stole my heart); this year it was… View Post
