[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n case you hadn’t realised, we are almost at the end of another year. Each year seems to go by at a faster pace as I get older. Perhaps it’s something to do with realising that every moment needs to be cherished – time flies when you’re having fun eh?
What a year it’s been. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I love nothing better than reflecting on time past and what better opportunity than at the end of a year?
My ‘One Word’ for this year was ‘Release’ and I’ll probably unpack that at some point over the next few weeks but for now, this has been my year in numbers:
2000
Miles driven during our two week summer holiday in France and Italy.
956
£££ spent on emergency vet care.
854
Readers of my most viewed blog post in 2017.
745
£££ spent on my hair – “because I’m worth it” ?
143
Odd socks accumulated.
122
Days to complete our garden room (I promise to finally share our little huge project on here in the new year).
110
Likes my most popular Tweet received.
20
Years of marriage celebrated.
10
Months of Invisalign braces endured – still 2 to go.
13
Books read (Present over Perfect was probably my favourite).
12
Approximate number of times I cried (probably no coincidence that this works out as once a month). I never cry so this is a huge accomplishment for me!
7
Books started but not finished #fail.
5
Pairs of shoes bought (not including flip flops ?).
4
Trips to the cinema (needs rectifying in 2018). Baby Driver was probably my favourite film watched.
3
Rooms redecorated (you can see more pictures here, here and here).
1
New pet acquired.
And of course…countless cups of coffee drunk!
Whilst there have been the inevitable ‘downs’ in 2017, that no one is exempt from, it’s good to cherish the ‘ups’. Thank you 2017, we have much to be grateful for.

7 years agoLove this post! I am in awe of the 110 likes on your tweet! Also in awe of the money spent on hair. My daughter has dyed my hair maybe five times this year – at the cost of £5 a box of hair dye.

7 years agoA really original idea for a post thank you. I think I maybe able to top you on the odd socks accumulated though!

7 years ago AUTHORI genuinely counted the whole bucket of odd socks and couldn’t believe how many there were! Do we throw them all out at the end of a year and start again?

7 years agoI have a laundry bag full, I think throwing them away would be a great idea. However then I worry that I’ll find the others and keep them in error, it’s a mine field. My son has this odd habit of wearing socks to bed and then taking one off which is how we get so many odds.

7 years agoThis is a great idea for a post Suzanne – loved it! Present Over Perfect was one of my favourite books of the year too, and I had to laugh about the odd socks. One that all parents understand! xx
