I don’t know where this week has gone (mostly frittered away on the phone to Virgin mobile but hey, that’s a long and boring story that no one wants to hear!). I’ve been trying to get on top of my paperwork this week which hasn’t been hugely successful but I have at least applied for a new driver’s licence. Tell me why these need to be renewed every 10 years – surely I haven’t aged that much?
I picked up the Invisalign moulds for my teeth yesterday. Apparently, in order for them to work, I’ve got to wear them for 22 hours out of 24 and nothing other than water should pass my lips whilst wearing them. I went into slight panic mode as I saw the evening glass of wine, the leisurely coffees and the snacking whilst I’m making dinner, drift into the unknown – I will be a shadow of my former self when the 12 months is up! Then my husband reminded me that you can always drink wine out of a straw, so there’s that problem solved. But the coffee?
Anyway, on with this week’s list of things that I am loving…
Read
I’ve been getting really stuck into ‘The Purpose Driven Life’ by Rick Warren this week. It is a book specifically written for lent, split into 40 chapters – one for every day. So many gems in it! I’ve read it before, probably about 10 years ago, but I think when you’re in a new season you read/receive things differently. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is questioning what life is all about and their purpose in the world.
Talking of lent, so many people have been surprised that I’m not giving up anything this year. Are you?
I also read this wonderful post from Becky over at Diary of a Fat Bottomed Girl. Becky’s husband Chris has terminal cancer but the way they are handling it as a family is truly inspiring. You’ll have to read the post but let me just tell you that laughter features heavily. I told you that they are amazing!
Watched
The first series of Unforgotten somehow passed us by but this week we have been watching series 2. If you missed it, you can find it on catchup TV until Saturday – go and binge watch the lot! The storyline is fascinating, I have no idea what kind of twisted individual thinks up these plot lines but it’s so good!
I’ve shared the hilarious Kristina Kuzmic before on here but her latest vlog on creating the perfect life on social media cracked me up. Behind every pristine house is someone cropping out the mess (or swiping it all onto the floor). I have to say that I can relate to flicking through all my photos until I find the perfect selfie – it gets harder as you get older, let me tell you!
Heard
Ed Sheeran’s new album was released this week, have you downloaded it yet? Apparently he has 9 out of the top 10 songs in the charts at the moment – how incredible is that?
We all love Ed Sheeran so I think we’ve listened to nothing else this week. If you’ve not had a chance yet, then let me share my favourite song with you – Supermarket Flowers. He has such a way with words as well as catchy tunes, I even woke up singing it one morning this week. Warning: it’s a weepy.
Wore
Spring is here people! Ok we’ve had one day of it, but indulge me for a moment. Whilst it has rained non stop over the past few weeks, my new Adidas trainers have been sitting in the wardrobe. So when the sun came out on Wednesday, so did the trainers, along with all the pastel shades.
I’ve got super wide feet but these trainers are actually so comfortable. And yes, I even shaved my ankles for the occasion. See what the sun does to us? Crazy.
Made
Must. Try. Harder.
Poor effort from me again this week; I really need to get back into baking (not that I could eat it right now). I did make fajitas on Thursday night which is always a winner in this house. Invariably someone will moan about the evening’s menu, but not when fajitas are on the agenda!
And Lastly
I have also been enjoying our new sofa which arrived last Friday. For the first time, I bravely bought something online that I had not seen in the flesh or had anyone recommend, BUT I think I struck gold! Have you discovered Willow & Hall? Verdict so far is that it seems great quality and the sofa bed has a thicker than average mattress so I’m confident that the mother-in-law will be comfy when she comes to stay at Easter!
So that just about sums up my week. Here’s hoping for a bright weekend full of sunshine. Have a good one!

8 years agoI bought the actual Ed Sheeran CD – very retro! My phone is full and I never get time to sort my iTunes, so I’m listening to the damn thing on a £30 CD player I bought from Argos for my daughter to practise ballet! I still love it though 🙂
Glad you’re enjoying Unforgotten, it’s brilliant, isn’t it?
I’m very impressed that you are actually wearing a full spring outfit, as well as your fab trainers. Long may it continue!

8 years ago AUTHORI didn’t know anyone bought CDs any more! Well done you for sticking with the traditional. The spring outfit has sadly gone back into hiding since 🙁 x

8 years agoOh my goodness, 22 out of 24 hours and no food in that time?! I was contemplating Invisalign but now I’m rethinking it.. haha!
Fajitas are always a winner in our house too, my girls would eat them every day if they could!
Have a lovely weekend xx

8 years agoWas it just the ankles you shaved or the whole leg? I would have sooo just done the ankles 🙁

8 years agoLovely post, each time I read one of these from you I think I must join in. I also read the Purpose Driven Life about 10/12 years ago and must review it. II recall it being an amazing read but my Christian walk is very different now, so I am sure it would speak to e quite differently. Mich x

8 years agoThanks for the book recommendation, I like the idea of a chapter each day and time to think about its content, I did something similar a few years ago for Lent (frantically trying to remember the book but my minds gone blank) and it was a good focus. I have downloaded the Ed Sheeran cd but have only listened to it as background music I need to sit down and listen properly, I find his songs grow and grow on me. Thats a really lovely sofa and the yellow make it all look very stylish.
