At Home With: Kerri-Ann {Life as Our Little Family}

pink bedroom shabby chic

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]’ve been longing to share this month’s home with you because I’ve caught snippets on social media and couldn’t wait to see more.

Although my home style is very modern with clean lines, that doesn’t mean I can’t admire other styles. In fact one day I would love to move back into a house with a bit of character. Our first home (twenty years ago now) was a Victorian terrace and this month’s featured home reminds me very much of those days.

Kerri-Ann’s style is all about the shabby chic. Her home is so warm and inviting that I want to move in right now! Shall we take a peek?

Who lives in your home?

We are a family of 4 which includes myself, husband Simon, our little boy George Archie and our furry baby Alfie.

Where do you live and how long have you lived there?

We live in a little village in Staffordshire in a Victorian town house that has been a renovation project for more than 10 years.

It has most definitely been a labour of love, we have invested a lot of our time and money into the property and I would definitely say that it has all been worth it as we do love the end results. Although is there ever an end? We’ve already started to go back to rooms, redecorate and re-organise.

What was the first impression of your home?

When we first looked at the property I’d say that we were seeing it at its worst, which in some respects was what we were looking for. We were looking for a project and we certainly found that! The original features had all been removed; wooden floorboards covered with laminate.

Yes, really – I still don’t understand why. In the area where we live, the street is renowned for this style of property for its Minton tile flooring, hallways, large rooms and high ceilings. And so we took our opportunity and invested.

Have you had any major work done?

The first 3 months were the toughest as our first major renovation was the kitchen followed by a new central heating system and damp proofing. All major works and ones that created so much mess and upheaval which at times was tough to live with. I may have escaped to a hotel at times.

What is your favourite room in the house?

My favourite room – ooh that’s a tough one. I think I’d have to say our bedroom. I just love the space, the light that fills the room throughout the day.

I love how the walls are a pale pink, how peaceful and calming the room is and that my husband allowed me a girly room. It is definitely the room I escape to when I need a little time.

And secondly our snug, the room where Mr H and I escape to of an evening. When we first moved in to the property we used this space as a dining room although it felt a little too formal.

When George arrived we decided to switch things up a little and transform this space into our living area. It was the best decision. Making the original living area a playroom for our boy to enjoy as he grew up, but also to remove all the toys from the adult room. I think you need that separation in living spaces, where you can close the door on all of the toys.

Is there anything that you would change about your home?

If I had our time again I would definitely knock a wall down between the kitchen and morning room. The morning room is where we eat our meals, the light that fills this room day and night really makes me smile and often where I enjoy my first coffee of a morning.

I think it would work so well as one open space where we could enjoy entertaining friends but also as a family. We are huge fans of cooking, enjoying a kitchen disco and eating together so it just feels like a lost opportunity. Maybe that’s next?

I hope you have enjoyed a little snoop around our house. Do ask me any questions in the comments, I love to chat home style.

I have the honor of being in KA home and it’s even more BEAUTIFUL in person than in photos. Each room perfectly decorated and detailed with family love and photos everywhere. I love the warm, inviting feel of it. It’s got so much character too. I am rather envious of her light in her bathroom and bedroom too I live in a cave. Great feature hunny.
