At Home With…Pamela from Life with Munchers

shed makeover

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]’ve been looking forward to sharing this month’s home with you since I first made contact with the owner – Pamela from Life With Munchers.

Having admired her home for some time across social media, I was excited to see more. It’s situated right at the other end of the UK to me, high up in the Scottish hills. Pam has the most beautiful taste; I think you’re going to love it…

Who lives in your home?

I live with my husband, Scott, and two little ladies, Liv & Maisie.

LIfestyle Blogger, Life with Munchers

Where do you live and how long have you lived in your home?

We live in the rural Aberdeenshire countryside, in the North of Scotland.  We moved from the nearest town about 3 years ago now. We are still only a 10 minute drive from the town but the difference is staggering… i.e no mains gas, or water!

What were the first impressions of your home?

We fell in love with what it could be. It ticked so many of the boxes (not all!) and had some amazing features that we didn’t have before, coming from a background of new builds. All the big structural renovation work had been done, it was a case of taking it from country bumpkin to modern.

Have you had any major work done?

We’ve removed a wall and replaced the kitchen, bathrooms and all the internal woodwork and doors. Still on the list is sandblasting the granite walls outside and replacing the render.

What is your favourite room in the house?

I adore Liv’s bedroom the most. It’s just the perfect little girl’s room. Not only does it have the best view and amazing storage, but it rather sweetly steps down into the room.

Is there anything that you would change about your home if you could?

Oh my word, so much!  We rushed into making so many decisions, because I just wanted it all finished.  Also, I’m rather guilty of “the grass is greener”, so as much as I love having the space and silence around the house, if I could move it 5 minutes closer to the town to benefit from mains water, gas and better broadband that would be the ultimate dream!

In realistic terms though, if we could just finish the renovation, so I could live in a completed house again, that would be perfect.  We went into this saying it was our forever home and therefore we had forever to finish it… But it’s quite overwhelming when you’re living it and surrounded dark red/brown wood.

FYI This is just the guest bedroom! (& sign is from Rockett St George)

What is the next home project that we can look forward to seeing on your blog?

Currently finishing the main living room…although it’s looking a bit sparse from all the bits and bobs that finish it off. Once we have done that, we’ll make a start on the outside.

Well it looks like Pamela and her family have already made a pretty good start on the garden! Don’t you just love it? What a stunning home with so much detail gone into the planning and design. Well done Pamela, I know you’ll continue using your creative flair as you finish off your living room and move into the garden.

If you’d like to keep in touch with Pamela and her family, you can find more of her home style on You Tube (she has some great tutorials on there!), Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.

Come back next month for another beautiful home.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw the aerial view – all that green land around it?! Incredible. What a lovely place to bring up a family hey? xx

    • Thanks Jess… it’s a bit like the forth road bridge of grass cutting in the summer!

  • It looks fabulous, but my mind is boggling at the lack of mains gas, electricity and water! And I can so relate to the stained brown wood. Four years on and we’ve still got bits of it around the house.

Yes I can’t quite imagine how they cope but with all that lush green land outside, maybe they don’t care?!

    • Thanks Sarah! Thankfully we have mains electric, but instead of gas we have an oil tank that need to be topped up a few times a year for our central heating and hot water. The water is pumped up from an underground stream and goes through numerous filters. It’s the norm here, but a whole new concept to me! It’s the Wi-Fi I hate the most! xx

  • Thank you for the feature Suzanne! Excited to share our space over here with you xx

  • Ah it’s s lovely to see more about Pamela and her family and lovely home. Love that aerial view of it too! x #homeetc

Wow to have that much land is amazing, and to be surrounded by silence must be heaven. I often think I should live in the countryside rather than a housing estate as I love peace and quiet. Though having teens I don’t think they would cope with the wifi situation x

This is SUCH an amazing house!!! Gosh it makes me think about whether I really could give up London after all one day, especially when we go to other parts of the country and look in estate agents windows, its definitely enough to make a Londoner cry. What a beautiful beautiful home X #HomeEtc
