Despite my best efforts to have a relaxing half term, I seem to have spent most of it being a taxi driver to my offspring. In fact I don’t think we’ve managed one lazy day all week; I definitely wouldn’t profess to feeling recharged! One week isn’t long enough is it?
It was my birthday at the weekend so we did manage to do lots of fun things including our first encounter with an Escape Room. Have you had a go? Sadly we didn’t manage to escape within the hour (largely due to too much inter-family squabbling) but I reckon we solved about 80% of the clues.
We had friends round for dinner on Saturday and on Wednesday, I hosted a girlie hot tub evening, which was great fun. I purchased some festoon lights to pretty up the area a little bit and I’m really pleased with the result.
Anyway, on to some Little Loves for the week…
Read
Remember my dalliance with the library? I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve still got three books sitting on my book shelf, racking up a fine as I type!
I seem to have inadvertently squeezed out all opportunities to read books of late. In fact I can feel the ‘o’ word (overwhelmed) looming, so I know it’s time for me to sit down and do a little stock take of my life. Either a few things have to go, or I need to prioritise better. The fact that I’m two months behind on my monthly massage subscription kind of says it all!
I read this fantastic little post from Hippo Chronicles which resonated with me in many ways.
Watched
Firstly, I absolutely LOVED the final episode of Cold Feet on Friday. Did you watch it? The whole series has been fantastic this time round. The characters have remained true to self and the storyline has been poignant, funny and relatable. Did I mention that I LOVED it? ?
Another series that has just come to an end, is The Davina Hour. It’s a chat show with a difference, where Davina McCall gets together with a small group of people to discuss a different contemporary issue each week: friendship, parenting, happiness, stress.
This week the discussion was on smartphone addiction. One person on the show had spend 13 hours on his phone in one day! It really was fascinating. You can probably catch all episodes on the W Channel if you’re interested.
Heard
After the George Michael documentary last week, I’ve been listening to the MTV Unplugged version of ‘Listen Without Prejudice’. I had forgotten just how well I know all his songs; amazing how we remember the words twenty years on isn’t it?
Wore
I’ve actually been wearing skirts this week. I very rarely bare my legs, but I decided that my purple cable knit tights needed an airing. My daughter kindly referred to me as an Oompa Loompa whilst wearing them but thankfully I don’t dress to please her.
Oh and they match this week’s nail colour so double joy!
I’ve also been loving my cross body bag that I purchased a few weeks ago. I did a LOT of research before buying and am now actively trying to resist buying another one! You can see my favourites from the high street here.
Made
Ok nothing to see here people, move on!
And lastly…
Today is the last day of our build, no more cups of tea to make! The project was originally supposed to be finished at the beginning of the summer holidays so I’m more than glad to see the back of them this week. We can finally enjoy our new garden room in peace! I’ll show you round some point soon, I promise.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

7 years agoThank goodness the garden room is finished! I look forward to seeing the pics. I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed, it’s been a struggle to keep my head above water this week and we haven’t even tried to do anything nice! Hopefully you will get back to your library books soon. It sounds like buying them might be cheaper than borrowing them!

7 years agoCan you extend your library books ? My husband uses the library and he is always extending his. Love the sound of your girlie hot tub evening. It’s my dream to one day have a hot tub in my garden #littleloves x

7 years agoI look for way to seeing your new garden room. Work is about to start on our new extension and I’m not looking forward to a house full of builders, especially with only 10 weeks until my due date! I have to renew my library books several times before I get through them and often end up with a fine, oops. I hope you’re having a lovely weekend x #LittleLoves

7 years agoMum’s taxi service and being called an oompa loompa in one week – gotta love teenagers! I feel your pain, I’ve been driving madam around while she preens herself in the mirror and eye rolls at me. Yay to the garden room being finished. Sounds like you’ve had a great time with your friends for your birthday. Hope you’re having a good weekend x

7 years agoI love that nail colour, I’ve been looking at some shades for Autumn and Winter as I usually stick to the same couple of colours. I keep promising myself a trip to the library but I know the books would just sit waiting to be read. Great news about the garden build being over finally, these things often run over don’t they. Have a fabulous weekend x #LittleLoves

7 years agoGlad the garden room is finished & you can all enjoy it. We have a hot tub in a conservatory but are hoping to take that down & have a pergola type thing, a bit inside outside. Looking forward to seeing what you’ve done. Yay for the tights, it’s definitely time to wear them.
I’ve been Mrs Taxi this week but my teen is 17 & all his friends are passing their driving tests, he needs to organised with lessons.

7 years agoNow that is exactly why I don’t go to the library. I always forget to take my books back and end up with an eye watering fine!
So happy that your build is finished, I cannot wait for you to share it with us.
Hope you’ve had a good week this week and sorry I’m so late in popping by and commenting xx
