Wish You Were Here? Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery in Laverstoke, Hampshire

Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery, Cocktail Making class, Celebrations for turning 50

All we needed was the excuse of a 50th birthday and one Gin Cocktail Masterclass plus Gin Tour, was booked. With three months to look forward to the event, Sunday 15th January couldn’t come soon enough. If ever there was a gin-lover’s paradise, I think the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery in Laverstoke (near Basingstoke) is it.

Before registering we were greeted by this amazing building; if only it hadn’t been pouring down with rain! Not long in and our heads were quickly turned by the venue for our gin cocktail-making masterclass. A true vision in purple…

We had booked the gin tour as well as the masterclass and I would highly recommend both. The girl running our masterclass was very knowledgable and kept us highly entertained throughout (not that we needed much help!).

She talked us through the reasons for each ingredient and we were given step by step instructions on how to make two cocktails. The first was definitely my favourite and even our gin-hating driver for the afternoon, professed to enjoying The Laverstoke – Winter Edition.

Our second cocktail didn’t have the added ingredient of a non-alcoholic mixer so the Royal Blue is best advised for hardened gin drinkers only. Looks pretty gorgeous though, doesn’t it?

On to the tour and there were strictly no photographs allowed. Even our (I use the termly loosely) Fit-bits were confiscated! Again, our tour guide kept the dull information to a limit and focused on explaining the secret processes behind the Bombay Sapphire brand. The 30 minute tour was more interesting than I expected, although would probably have been better enjoyed before the cocktail-making, rather than after.

Either way, it was a note-worthy experience and right at the end, we got to smell all of the different aromas that go in to making the various cocktails, highlighting our personal favourites.

All in all this was such a fun afternoon out, perfect for celebrating with a group of friends. You can choose the whole Bombay Sapphire Gin Cocktail Masterclass experience like we did for £40-45.00 per person, or stick to the tour and a complimentary drink in the bar for £25.00.

If you want to really push the boat out, you can include lunch for £55.00. All the different options are available to view on the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery website. Why not check out the different cocktail recipes while you’re there?

Incidentally, I was not paid to write this review post, I simply chose to share a fun afternoon out with friends.

In answer to your question, yes, yes I absolutely do wish I was there! What an awesome thing to do, I might have to book to do that myself! I’ve been gin tasting twice and I’ve never met a gin I didn’t like.

The tour sounds like a secret mission and so much fun. The gin cocktails look amazing and I think the tours seem a great price. Fab place to celebrate a 50th x

Oh I have been looking at this! Yes is a bit strange they don’t do the tour first.
