Chocolate Heaven, a Rose Gold Obsession and Gilmore Girls #LittleLoves

Cairn terrier in autumn leaves

Since making the decision to reduce my working hours last week, I’ve felt so much lighter and less overwhelmed. I’ve even had time to take my little pooch for an autumn stroll – he loves a seasonal romp in the leaves. I also sat down and wrote a post about dealing with life when it goes belly up – personal experience this last year has taught me a lot so if that’s you, then go have a read.

So what else have I been up to this week? I hear you cry. To follow is this week’s #LittleLoves…

Read

I have a new book waiting in the wings but have to admit to not having started it yet. In fact I’ve had a fairly book-free week. Instead I’ve been catching up with a few blogs.

My eldest daughter is currently fighting depression and anxiety. I am therefore often drawn to blogs on this subject. The Hippo Chronicles is a blog I discovered on Facebook. This week she shared a post on what it’s like living with anxiety on a daily basis. She didn’t realise that she had it for so long, meaning that she got help a little late in the day. If you’re wondering if you might be suffering from anxiety then please do take a read.

Watched

I know I’m late to the party with this one, but I’ve finally got around to watching Gilmore Girls. Verdict? I LOVE it! A bit like Friends, I actually think I could sit and binge watch one after the other. Not having watched it the first time around (I had a 6 month old baby – what TV?) I have 7 series to watch. SEVEN! I shall never be bored again.

Are you a GG fan? The entire story from start to finish, is on Netflix at the moment. I had better get cracking!

Heard

Way too much political banter for my liking. I kind of brought it upon myself a little when I asked an innocent question on Facebook the morning after the election result. The less said about that the better.

Since then I’ve been trying to focus my mind elsewhere. I’ve been loving this song by Hillsong (the Christian worship band from a huge church originating in Australia) this week. The main message of the song? Be Still.

Wore

All the rose gold. I have been a hard-core silver jewellery person for so long but last year, I got my first rose gold charm bracelet from Thomas Sabo and I absolutely love it. But you can’t wear rose gold with silver now, can you? So I asked for this lovely Cluse watch to go with it and I haven’t had it off since! It’s an absolute steal at £89 and goes with everything.
cluse-rose-gold-watchI’ve also been wearing my poppy with pride this week. You’ll notice another little piece of rose gold jewellery sneaking into this photograph – my daughter bought it for me for my birthday. Cute isn’t it?

Made

We had another birthday in the house this week and thus this pile of chocolatey, caramel gorgeousness was created. Let’s just say that it went down very well with the 8 teenage girls we had in the house that evening.

img_3244I stole this recipe from Sarah over at Taming Twins. Have you come across her yet? She’s a huge Pinterest girl so if you’re over there, then go and check out her boards – there are loads of really easy to make yet very impressive cakes showcased on there.

And lastly…

I’ve had this low level panic about Christmas going on all week. Usually, I’ve bought a few presents before my daughter’s birthday but this year I’ve not even got a single idea! So I nipped out to Sainsbury’s yesterday and made a start – just the odd bits and bobs (the ones I will no doubt forget about in December and re-discover mid March) but it made me feel better. Have you started yet? Please don’t tell me you’ve finished or we might have to part ways!

Thanks for the tip about Gilmore Girls. I’ve never seen it either and never know what to watch on Netflix. Started on Breaking Bad but it is too nasty for me. Have only bought one present so far and that was for S. Something I spotted on Amazon and added to my Wish List ages back. Please keep the present advice coming this way!

I’m not a Breaking Bad fan either. Gilmore Girls is just easy to watch, a little bit of light humour and the characters are very likeable. Started watching it with H cos I think it’s right up her street too. x

  • This morning I tweeted ‘It’s still 6 weeks until Christmas’ then I thought ‘Sh*t, only 6 weeks until Christmas!’. I’ve done a very small bit of shopping, but I only know what my daughter wants, I have no idea what the boys want and no inspiration. My niece and nephews are easy as they’re all little and my husband usually buys his own present!
I read that post you recommended yesterday and a couple of points confirmed for me that someone close to me does suffer from anxiety. We have tried telling her that she does, but she doesn’t believe it and won’t get help 🙁
I’ve never watched Gilmore Girls. I never have time for TV anyway (although I will be trying to squeeze in I’m a Celeb) and we don’t have Netflix, so I miss out on all these programmes.

And we all know that those 6 weeks are going to fly by! I’ve got no ideas either. Except for my eldest who nows exactly what she wants. 12 year old boys are pretty impossible to by for! He doesn’t really want anything. Can’t imagine how you buy for two of them. Good luck! We will be watching I’m A Celeb too. The countdown is on 🙂 x

Ooh the cake looks amazing! I didn’t know Gilmore Girls was like Friends, I might have to watch that then!

It’s not really like Friends, just in that it’s really easy to watch one after the other. The characters are so likeable. Enjoy! x

I’ve also recently started watching Gilmore Girls and it really is great, isn’t it? Such easy, fun, comforting watching. Love that watch, so beautiful. And that cake! You’ve got to love a bit of chocolate and caramel. Hope you have a great weekend! #LittleLoves

I imagine you’re trying to get all organised before the baby makes an appearance? Wise woman! Gilmore Girls is really easy viewing. Perfect for when the baby brain hits 😉

  • Emily and Indiana

I’m still unsure whether I’d enjoy Gilmore Girls, but the more people talk about it, the more I want to give it a go! Thank you for linking that post about anxiety- I found myself relating to quite a few of the things she said xx

I’m sorry to hear that you can relate Emily but I think it’s worth knowing and trying to get some help before it goes too far. Take care and maybe sink into some Gilmore Girls! x

  • Stacie

I think I need to start watching GG – I hear so much about it. I love friends so your comparison might just push me to start it! That cake looks delicious and I absolutely love that watch. I’m currently on the lookout for a rose gold/copper clock to go in our extension – I have a bit of an obsession too! Enjoy your weekend xx

  • Kara

Hi I am new to your blog thanks to #Littleloves – I shall be heading off for more of a read.

I hope your daughter is ok, as a sufferer for over 20 years now she is in my thoughts, I have saved the post for a read later as I have just been diagnosed with anxiety.

I love GG, I have just binged watched season 7 again ready for the new series in a couple of weeks, glad you are enjoying.

That cakes looks totally scrummy, you can never go wrong with one of Sarah’s recipes xxx

  • I’m feeling pretty disorganised when it comes to Christmas this year too. My mum’s 60th is in December too and haven’t got her anything yet either! Argh! Have s good week x #LittleLoves

  • Stacey

Oh my that cake looks amazing! I to am a lover of rose gold, what a lovely watch and the necklace is really cute.

  • Tracey Williams

Everybody seems to be watching Gilmore Girls at the moment. We have just finished Suits and we need something new to watch (though I doubt whether the husband would be up for GG). I LOVE your rose gold watch Suzanne. I have just upgraded my iPhone and went for the rose gold. Argh less than 6 weeks now. I have been out today Christmas shopping and made a little dent in the list. That reminds me it’s still all hiding in my boot x
