These Boots Were Made for….

Walking…running…jumping…kicking in leaves. You name it, you can do anything in a pair of brown knee-high boots!

I love boots. Full stop. I have ankle boots in black, brown and grey; some with a heel, some flat. I have calf-height biker boots in black (could definitely do with a brown pair), knee-length black boots for wearing with a skirt or sometimes leggings, and most recently… a lovely pair of brown leather knee-high boots.

The best thing about all of these boots? I’ve been wearing some for more than three years. Get them right and I don’t think they date.

So how do you make sure you get the right pair of boots?

Generally, I do a lot of searching online and sometimes I go into stores to try them on. What I’ve learnt over the years, is that you never ‘settle’ for a pair that you think are ok. They are an investment and therefore worth taking time over. What’s more, if you’re a shoe-lover like me, you’ll enjoy the browsing experience just as much as the wearing.

Back to my most recent purchase – the brown knee-high boot.

I’ve been wanting a new pair for a while and as I generally treat myself to one new pair of boots a year (on my birthday) I knew immediately what I was looking for. Brown boots look great with denim and equally good with a skirt (albeit in the right colour and height).

As I’ve done all the leg work, I thought it might be worth sharing my finds here with you lovely lot. I was spoilt for choice quite honestly, but to follow are a few I considered – all high-street stores and prices.

738-321sGood old Next.

I always take a look at Next’s boots because they have such a wide range and the price is usually pretty affordable. This particular pair comes in two different widths so if you’ve got a slightly wider calf then these should work for you.

They’re also not too high which is something worth considering if you’re a little height challenged like me! I had a pair very similar to this a few years ago and absolutely loved them. RRP £82.

26120590_a_pWhen did Clarks become fashionable?

About 5 years ago, that’s when. My favourite, most comfortable ankle boots are from Clarks and this gorgeous pair of brown knee-high boots were a firm contender for me (in fact I saw them after I had purchased mine and kicked myself just a little bit). Look at these beauties! Again, they can be adjusted depending on the width of your calf. How cool is that? RRP £150.

Can’t go wrong with Office

Admittedly this pair has a slight heel but not at only 5.5cm, I think that you could still comfortably spend the day on your feet. If you’re looking for versatile, I think that this pair would work with jeans but look even more fabulous with a skirt. RRP £128.

First port of call – Jones Bookmaker.

If you want quality boots that will last and last, this is the place to go. For many years, this is the only place I would look and I would never be disappointed. I love the plait detail on these, makes a change from the buckle that seems to feature so heavily. But quality doesn’t come cheap. RRP £180.

A surprising purchase from Zalando.

I would never normally shop for boots online, from a site I have never purchased from before but I did and I am thrilled with these little beauties!

I like the slightly darker brown colour and the fact that they are higher at the front than the back. I don’t have particularly wide calves but these are slightly elasticated at the back so would fit any width of leg. Zalando helpfully include the height of each boot so less room for mistakes (don’t you just hate returning something you’ve fallen in love with?).

I opted for half a size bigger as I have wide feet and the fit is perfect. RRP £119.99 (annoyingly now in the sale at £95.99).

A thing of beauty, no? Happy boot shopping my friends.

Ooh lots of exciting boots! I also have a staple pair of brown boots for winter – but only one! They need a good dose of shoe polish before I wear them anywhere smart!

Ah I NEVER polish my boots. Is that bad? Just need to get a new pair 😉 x

Very nice, you made a good choice. I’ve had a few bargains from Zalando before too. Your post made me smile as I was writing about boots yesterday too. Mich x

I’ve not ordered from them before – no idea why! Clearly missing out. Thanks Mich. x
