[dropcap]T[/dropcap]ell me I’m not the only person out there who obsesses about something forever before actually buying it? I’ve analysed myself with regard to this little ‘quirk’ and have come to the conclusion that it’s a healthy way to be. Let me explain…
Firstly, there is no money wastage because I know that I will definitely get a lot of use out of said item. Secondly, I could never be described as an impulsive buyer – far from it!
My latest obsession, is the cross body bag. This versatile little number has been on my radar for about 6 months now but I only seriously began feeling the need to purchase one recently, something to do with my new-found love for trainers.
As you can imagine, I’ve done a LOT of research. I’ve thought long and hard about my favourites, assessing the pros and cons, working out which will get the most wear. To follow are just a few of those available on the high street right now…
Best Value for Money
I love the detailing on this Beige Studded Tassel Cross Body Bag from River Island and at £22.00 it really is great value for money. If you’re not keen on the colour, it also comes in black and khaki green.
Cutest
This gorgeous Croco Embossed Cross Body Bag from & Other Stories (£68) is half price at the moment and I’m tempted to purchase it ready for next summer. It’s real leather too!
Most Striking
I’ve seen a lot of red cross body bags around and being the ‘in’ colour this season, the Red Structured Cross Body Bag from Mint Velvet (£129) totally stood out for me. As with everything from Mint Velvet, it’s a little bit pricey but the quality is second to none.
Cheapest
You can’t go wrong with black and at this price, the Black Textured Mini Cross Body Bag (£12.99) from New Look is a winner. It’s also quite small so if you’re travelling light, this is a great option.
Your Actual Leather
I can almost smell the beauty of this Leather Osman Cross Body Bag from Topshop (£45.00). Not only does it look (and smell) great, but it’s the prefect size too ??.
Most Unusual
Zara always manages to create something with a little bit of ‘edge’ over the rest. This Round Bag with Metal Handles (£29.99) is stunning and with a removal long strap, you can easily change the style.
Most Versatile
And finally…the grey bag. It goes with everything! The Fifi Bag from Hush could easily be used in the summer or winter and would look perfect with a pair of trainers or smart boots/shoes. At £99 it might need to be versatile ?.
So which bag did I go for in the end? It was a tough choice but The Romeo Crocodile Effect Cross Body Bag from Topshop won me over.
I did consider the real leather one from Topshop, but the price tag of £25.00 was the deciding factor – I’m nothing if not frugal ?. Oh and I promise that I didn’t buy the bag just to match my dog!
As you can see, there really is a cross body bag for every occasion and every clothing/shoe combination in your wardrobe. Which is your favourite?

7 years agoI ALWAYS have a cross body bag, always from Cath Kidston and I always keep them until they’re falling apart. I recently acquired a guinea pig one which is the best thing ever!
Of your choices here, I definitely preferred the grey one. I never knew I had expensive tastes!

7 years agoLove a cross body bag but always go for the leather. It might be a bit more expensive, but if you’re buying classics, longevity wins. It’s something you’ll use for ages. I don’t have many handbags but most are years old and still look fab.

7 years ago AUTHORThe thing is, I know that fashions change and so do my tastes so sometimes I buy cheaper so that I can realistically buy a new one in the not too distant future. My OH would agree with you though, he ALWAYS goes for quality over quantity. My proper handbags are all leather 🙂

7 years agoI wear cross body bags a lot, and I really like the red one and it’s good to see some ideas because I get overwhelmed by all the choice out there, so I usually stick to the Mia Tui range, especially as they are so practical.

7 years agoOoh it really does go well with your dog 😉
I like the Mint Velvet one the best, although I’ve never heard of the brand. Love the one you’ve gone for as well though, I bet it goes well with virtually everything.
They’re very practical, now I’ve read this I’m quite tempted to get one!

7 years agoHonestly, I don’t think I could live without mine now (exaggeration of course!). But they really are very practical. Love the red one too 🙂 xx

7 years agoI am the same as Sarah and always use a cross body bag from Cath Kidston too. Mine is nearly 3 years old but I still use it most days. I also love the grey one too, but don’t think I could ever part with that much money for a bag x

7 years agoYes the grey one would go with everything wouldn’t it? Love it but also quite small. x
